Check out the job advertisements on the classified ads page of your local newspaper and you will see that most of the wanted jobs has a job requirement that applicants must meet before trying to apply. This is very logical. These job requirements were laid out as guidelines on whether you can do the job or not.

Being an experienced blogger I have found out that blogging can also be considered as a job whether or not you earn money from it. And if you were to think about it, blogging also has some job requirements in order for one to be more effective and efficient in that line of work. The following is a list of “job requirements” that I have come up as a basis on whether you are qualified to blog or not. Remember that these points are very important if you thinking of being serious in blogging.

Wanted Blogger Job Requirements: Must have a passion for writing
You probably already know that blogging is somewhat entirely about writing. Having a passion for writing is essential because you will have to write 90% of the time. It is the heart and core of a blog. If you don’t enjoy writing, then you may end up having a hard time expressing your own thoughts and feelings through your blog. This may also pose as a problem when coming up with content. There are many other ways to express yourself. If you do not have a passion for writing, blogging is not right for you.

Must have a passion for reading
Yes. Were you surprised? Of course it is only natural for bloggers to go hopping through different blogs, one must also take note that reading other’s content is as important as writing content for your own blog. By doing so, you could get some ideas for your own content as well as increasing your knowledge on a wide range of topics. Remember, success is measured relatively on how much a person reads.

Must be able to communicate effectively through writing
It is in what we write that we are able to communicate through our blog. As a blogger, we must make sure that the messages that we are trying to convey can be easily understood by your readers. Even if you just ramble about random things, there still must be some consistency with the way you write. Know the basics in writing. Check your spelling, grammar, sentence construction, and the flow of ideas. Let us face it, no one wants to read a blog that is hard to understand.

Must have personality
Perhaps this is one of the most important aspects in blogging. Personality, this is what separates your blog from all the other blogs in the blogosphere. Blogging is only the place where you express your thoughts and ideas, but the main focus of the blog is the blogger itself. Pour your personality in your blog and try to differentiate yourself from others.

Must be creative
Writing is an art, as well as blogging. And it is because it is an art that we must be creative in order for our art to be interesting. Being a creative person would always guarantee you to become interesting. Sometimes a little creativity in posting posts or in crafting your blog would definitely create a feedback from your readers.

Must be able to accept the competition
The blogosphere is a cruel world where every blog is your competitor to greatness. With over the millions of blogs out there, you must know that rising up to the top would take a considerable amount of effort. A competition sometimes brings out the driving force in a person, let this driving force give you the chance to push your blog upward.

Must have patience
A really must have! If you are really aiming for a blog that will become successful, it will take a long time for it to be fulfilled. Take note that not all blogs become big overnight, sometimes they just grow slowly but surely.

Must be hardworking
This goes without saying because one must be aware that building a blog (or maintaining one for that matter) takes a lot of work. If you think that writing posts is what blogging is all about, then you are wrong. There are tons of different tasks that a blogger needs to do like maintainance, comment moderation, mingling with readers, checking/answering mails, reading other blogs content, and more.

Must have time for blogging
This is something that must be taken into consideration. No matter how we try to deny it, blogging really does require a lot of time from the blogger. Many bloggers out there spend most of their times in front of their computer just by blogging. If you do not have much time to spend, then being able to manage your time would be a great asset.

Must be able to withstand and accept criticism
The first time you have pushed that publish button, you have already subjected yourself to public criticism. Some of them will be good, but there will be times that it is not. As a blogger, you must be able to accept criticisms and listen to the comments of your readers. Take these criticisms and build upon it, you should never let it pull you down.

Must be comfortable being center of attention
A blog is often focused on a the blogger behind the blog. Unless you don’t want to be the center of attention, then blogging is not right for you.

Must be determined
Just like what I said. Blogging is no easy task. If you want a successful blog, sometimes sacrifices have to be made. A blogger must be determined in reaching the top. One must have a great determination in blogging in order to withstand everything that the blogosphere throws at us.

The ones listed above are the things a blogger should have before thinking of jumping into the blogosphere. Remember, these are the most important traits that a blogger should have. But then again, you could always try your luck out and see where it will take you.

Happy blogging!
