I have mentioned on my post, Effects of a Long Blogging Hiatus, that once a blogger stops uploading posts on their blogs, their blogs will eventually deteriorate and end up in a slow and painful death.
Like I said, No new posts = Dead Blog.
But fear not, the effects of our negligence can still be undone. Though it may seem a difficult task, it is not actually impossible. It would be like starting out with a new blog all over again, the only difference is that you are not just going to look for NEW readers, but also look and win back the approval of the old ones.
Here are some of the steps that I have thought up that would help bring our blogs back to its former health and growth. Feel free to make use of these tips on your blog:
- Exert more effort in high-quality articles that your readers love. List down the articles that had created a lot of traffic before and see what kind of topics your readers like to read about. Or you could create a new high-quality article from scratch.
- Try to be more consistent with your posting frequency. Make your readers feel assured that they will receive your articles whenever they expect it by setting a posting frequency and by following it dutifully.
- Try to be more visible on other people’s blogs by engaging into discussions and leaving a mark on their tagboards and MyBlogLog recent visitors.
- Look for your old readers by checking your comment archives, then leave a message on their blogs telling them that your blog is back.
- Ask help from your blogging friends to help in spreading the word of your comeback. You could ask them to make a post about it or just mention it on one of their blog posts.
- Advertise more by purchasing advertising space on other people’s blogs or by making use of the free advertising offered by Entrecard (Recommended!).
- Try to be more visible on social networks like Friendster and FaceBook. Some bloggers don’t actually know that being active in social networks is one effective way to advertise a blog. (Don’t forget to add me up! PinoyBlogero@gmail.com)
- Try to join in on more blogging activities both offline and online. The more you make yourself visible, the more buzz your blog will get.
- Link-up more to other people’s posts that are related to theirs so that they can receive a trackback. I use this technique on my Pinoy Blogosphere Weekend Recap posts.
- Create some hype on your blog. Create a very interesting (or controversial) blog posts that everyone will talk about. Stir some buzz!
- Allocate more time for SEO. In the time of need, SEO (Search Engine Optimization) would do great in getting your blog new traffic.
- Create more gimmicks like podcasts, vidcasts, comic strips, contests and such! You will be surprised how these things add value and interest to your blog.
Reviving a blog requires twice the effort, but once things pick up, you’ll have a continuous and healthy blog growth that you have once enjoyed.
Hope my blog becomes healthy again. Happy blogging!
