Remember when Clare Danes commented on the cockraoches here in the Philippines? I was young then but I recall people reacting violently when a Danes movie was released. Although the anger is gone, people have not forgotten about this but Danes’ movies do become successful here too. It’s all about letting go and moving on, not just in racial slurs like this but in everything in life.

When ABC apologized and Sen. Santiago still demanded more from them, I was a bit disappointed. As you said, there are other important issues that we need to focus on. I think the government loves incidents like this because it takes the heat away from their own scandals and unresolved issues. Just a thought…

Insulting remarks and disappointing views about our race is nothing new (for me that is). If other countries make fun of us, go ahead and do so. I just accept the reality that everywhere and everyday, there will be racists and there will be other people who would not want us or sneer at our culture and life.

If some desperate housewife thinks that our med schools are not at par with theirs and deemed to be laughable, then I guess their American teenagers nowadays have intellectual problems and not at par with ours and are (really) laughable. Take the case of the recent babbling answer of Miss South Carolina of Miss Teen USA 07. Oh wow…

in the first place, the “rotting here” comment isn’t just for the doctors migrating but for all filipinos who chose to work abroad, immigrant or not…
then, if i’ll follow on with your argument, are you saying that you’re segregating the doctors who petitioned from the doctors who are working (or, for the better argument, migrated)now in the US but chose to keep mum about the issue? or you’re separating the petitioning for apology from migrating reasons? they all fall under the same category whichever way i look at it coz they are interrelated… the mere fact that your comment (they just want to blend in) directly targets the doctors who migrate in the US then petitioned for the apology shows that you don’t understand their reasons for doing so (migrating and petitioning)…REALLY, the petition is merely a desire to be able to blend in? if the petition has no viability at all like what you all anti-petition is trying to insist, then why did the ABC comp. have to trouble themselves in releasing an apology, erasing that line from future airings and dvd releases, and the most significant result (well, for me), opening their doors for filipinos who wants to work in the company. the result speaks for itself
lastly, I apologize for the “stupid” remark… the appropriate term for your reaction is irresponsible. yeah, i think it’s so irresponsible that you said that the petitioners merely wants to preserve their status and blend in. if that’s how you see those petitioners in the US, then what more of the supporters of that petition in other side of the world specially in the philippines? they just want to RIDE with the Wave? i won’t assume anymore coz i don’t even want to think about it. it’s so sad that there are filipinos like you who have that mentality. they just want to blend in… seriously…
