Introduction to blogs

In the present day everybody wants to express his or her views on the subject that is related to day-to-day events. A simpler and easy way to express the view is through blogs. A blog is a division of a website which is maintained by a single individual. In other words it’s like a personal online diary, where one describes the events or speaks on a particular topic. The word blog was coined in 1990’s and blogging is the verb form of blog.

Most of these blogs are interactive allowing the users to express their comments on the blogs and also allows them to communicate with each other in an interactive format.

Types of blogs

Nowadays these blogs usually combine texts, graphics, and images and also link other websites related to the topic. These blogs are of different types: Personal blogs, business blogs, subject blogs, media blogs and device blogs. Personal blogs are the most common blogs usually maintained by an individual who shares his or her views with friends or family members. Business blogs are the blogs that are maintained by the companies or organizations for marketing or public relation purposes. Subject blogs spotlight on a particular topic and are categorized into different types based on the subject such as political blog, travel blog, legal blog, education blog, and medical blog etc. Media blogs involve entertainment blogs such as art blog, photo blog, video blog, music blog, film blog, and audio blog etc. Device blogs are defined based on the device that is used to write the message. For example mob blog, which displays a message written by using a mobile phone.

In recent times, blogs have gained increasing popularity and based on their fame these blogs are ranked that is judged by the number of times the web is cited and the number of incoming links.
