A lot of people say that Pinoys have a knack for comedy. And it shows even online as bloggers showcase their comedic talent through the use of their blogs.
With all the creativity and talent spewing out from this side of the blogosphere, it is kinda hard to choose which among them are the best reads. Well look no further, for the 2008 Project Lafftrip Laffapalooza narrows your choices down to ten.
Ever felt that a simple comment on a post is not enough to show your appreciation to your favorite blogger? Ever wished that you could do something more to show your thanks?
Well, you can now, for the voting for the Blogger’s Choice Award on the upcoming Philippine Blog Awards is now officially open
Yes, ladies and gentlebloggers, show your love to your favorite bloggers by giving them a shot at the Blogger’s Choice Award. This special award is given to the blog with the most number of votes. No judges here! It’s all about popularity so make your vote count!
The nominees for the Blogger’s Choice Award are…
But hang on a sec. This year’s voting is quite different from last
year’s. In order for us to accurately tally the bloggers who
voted, we jazzed up the voting a bit and made it more exciting.
To vote, you MUST be a Filipino blogger, which means,
you need to own a blog. You might be blogging on Blogger,
Wordpress.Com, Live Journal, Friendster, Multiply, or on a self-hosted
blog—it doesn’t matter—the point is, you need to have a blog to vote. Your blog must be established at least three (3) months from
today with a minimum of 10 posts.
Why? Well, read on for the instructions on how to vote for your
favorite Bloggers’ Choice Award nominee!
Choose only ONE (1) blog from the list of
official Bloggers’ Choice Award nominees above. On your blog, tell us
why you voted for the nominee. Yes, you can vote for your own blog.
And no, you cannot vote for a blog that is not on the list of official
Bloggers’ Choice Award nominees.
Make sure that the links to the websites of the 2008 Philippine
Blog Awards sponsors are included in your post. You MUST
include the sponsor links to validate your vote.
Once you have submitted your vote post URL, wait for the confirmation
from one of our committee members. Please be patient, we will manually
go through each and every vote post to make sure it’s valid.
So what will you get out of this? Well, aside from the fact that you
will make your favorite blogger happy, a valid Bloggers Choice Award
vote entitles you one (1) raffle entry.
Some say that a measure of a blog’s worth is through the number of traffic, subscribers, and how big the earnings of that blog are. Although this is somewhat true, a lot of people forget that the quality of posts are also crucial in determining a blog’s value. Covered with all the hype of money making and marketing, little importance is given on the quality of the thing that really matters: Content.
This is what The Blog Awards Challenge hopes to change. It’s a blog spearheaded by Pinoys that aims to promote high-quality write-ups from bloggers, both newbie and professional, by holding bi-weekly blog-writing competitions.
The Blog Awards Challenge is a blog competition combining literary skills, interactivity and peer polling. The Blog Awards Challenge is bi-weekly theme-based writing event for everyone in the blogosphere. A challenge is posted in the site every two weeks. Bloggers who wish to compete will write about the theme and post the entry on their respective blogs.
The winners will be selected through the combination of both reader’s votes and judges scoring and will receive recognition and badges as prizes.
I bet that there would be some who would get disappointed with the badges as a prizes, but IMO, I think it’s a really good idea. If you really want to promote “good content” then you must remove anything that could taint the image of the contest. Replace prize money with recognition badges. Show them that good writing is not always spurred by the prospect of winning money (Then again, a contest with no big of a prize would be harder to promote. I sure hope they could pull it off).
So if you are looking for a chance to showcase your writing talents and be recognized for it, this is one place you may want to hang out. Learn more about the Blog Awards Challenge by visiting their main blog. Contest rules can be found here.
Happy blogging!
PS. Kudos to Talksmart and Loudcloud for thinking up this great idea. You guys have my support, if you need any help, don’t hesitate to contact me.
