The New Year. We know that it is already near when the number of firework related accidents is increasing exponentially with each passing day or when bloggers from all over the blogosphere are doing the traditional Year Ender Posts on their blogs. Using both indicators above, I’d say we only have three more days left before the new year is upon us once again.

Year Ender?
Blog Year Enders are a special type of Blog feature posts that commemorates the end of the year. They range from simple posts like "Most Popular Blog Posts for the year 2007" to something more extensive like "2007: The Year of Philippine Blog Events and Controversies".

Traditional media has been doing them for years! GMA 7 has their ‘Strong Words" Year Ender Special on TV, of course ABS-CBN would also cook up something to counter GMA (I don’t know if they will, I don’t watch them), and even the local magazines has their own too on their December Issues.

Why do it?
Well, there really isn’t any rule that any blogger should have a Year Ender post on their blog. Think of it as a small celebration to celebrate the coming of the new year.

Year ender posts are also great way to stir some buzz and to drive more targeted traffic on your blog. For example, having a post like "The Top 10 Posts on my Blog for the Year 2007" with links to your best posts would increase the chances of people reading them. You could also drive more traffic to your blog by having a "Top 10 Bloggers That I know Of for the Year 2007", link to other bloggers and watch them check out your post.

You could try other stuffs that suit your fancy. Here are some Year Ender Post Ideas that I have seen over the past few days:

• Top posts on my blog for the year 2007
• Top posts that I have read for the year 2007
• Top something about my niche for the year 2007
• Top commentators on my blog for the year 2007
• What my readers should expect for next year
• A report on the growth of my blog for the year 2007
• Top bloggers in my niche for the year 2007
• My achievements on my blog for the year 2007.
• How much I have earned in the year 2007.
• What I have done with the money I have earned in the year 2007.
