I was checking my blog stats last night when I noticed something that was in need of my attention. It dated back in June 20 of this year. The line graph that was supposedly heading upwards fell for a bit then started climbing up again.
Ever since the start of classes for the school year of 2006-2007, which has started almost a few weeks ago, I have noticed a slight change in my traffic rate. From a peak visit rate of 110 unique visits, it has gone down to 70 unique visits the next day.

I had a hard time determining whether the reason for the sudden drop of visits is the start of classes for students. This is because of the fact that my site is still fairly new that I don’t have enough data for me to compare with each other.
This is the reason why I am asking you guys, has the opening of classes affected your blog’s visit rate?
Gather your data
The start of classes here in the Philippines had different schedules, but we can narrow it down from the starting date of July 13 to July 20. All you have to do is to check your site stats per day and see if there were any sudden drops on the visitors of your blog within that timeframe.
If your blog has an inconsistent number of visitors, look for any irregularities per day. Let us say every Friday you have an average of 100 visitors per week, then on one particular Friday between July 13 to July 20, you noticed that you only have 80 or 90 visitors for that day. You could take note of that as a possible drop of visitors.
Of course, there could be different factors that could affect any sudden drop of visitors. However, if we could combine all our data and hypothesis, I think we could find out if whether the opening of classes has affected our blogging world.
Why do I need to find out?
I’m a stats addict. I always try to analyze my blog stats and find ways to make use of the data to my own advantage.
I want to see if the opening of classes really has any effect to student bloggers. I want to find out if they would still be blogging even if they have classes.
The data that will be gathered here will prove useful especially if you want to know which time of the year will your blog have a low visitor rate. By knowing this, you can dish out your best articles before the start of classes for it to be consumed by a wide audience.
So, if it isn’t much of a bother to you. I really hope you guys could help me. Just tell me if there were any sudden drops. No need for any graphs or the like.
I’ll be posting my analysis and study soon for the benefit of everyone. Happy blogging!

Well, for as long as you get visitors, that’s what matters. But perhaps filipino programmers got some point. He’s just giving advice on how you can expand your readership. But this post is dated and you obviously had proven that. Just had a look at your alexa’s rating as opposed to filipinoprogramers big difference but mine is way lower. However, it’s only a couple of months old since i launched it. Perhaps, you can write a blog about it he he he. They get link back to their website via their profile.

Frankly speaking, I don’t check my stats. I always get surprised each time that my counter already reached this certain number. ^_^’
But it’s still true that there are more people online when it’s vacation and weekends.

Sorry about that. I guess I did misunderstood what you were trying to say.
Yes, you are right. It seems that the majority of my readers are composed of students which explains the sudden drop in my stats. Hmm… I think I should exert more effort in promoting it to non-student-bloggers.

I’m not sure what is your point pinoyblogero, I was just explaining your published stats, and described what I thought the numbers are telling in my point of view. It’s just a pure stats explanation and I was thinking it will help you in some ways. On the way you have answered my previous comment I feel you have not been giving 100% attention and have misunderstood what I am trying to tell.
Also I feel disappointed with your previous comment on my post website’s post entitled “Wondering Where is Naruto Shippuuden’s Episode 19?” is irrelevant and should left on this site’s topic alone, you should have not duplicate it in that manner.
