During the time that I was still getting myself familiar with blogging, I have always thought that blogging is only exclusive to the members of high society. Something like a past time for those coños living in Ayala when they get tired of spending their cash on not-so-important things.

Why did I have such a thought?

Go look around the blogosphere at that time and you would know what I mean. Read posts of other blogs and look at their pictures. If I don’t see them casually typing on their newly bought laptops, most of them are enjoying a cup of coffee in an expensive looking coffee shop. There wasn’t a single time that I have seen a picture where a blogger was holding a pen, writing on a piece of paper, enjoying a glass of gulaman with a squatter’s area as the backdrop.

Kidd: Aba, may laptop na po kayo, Kuya Karlo?
Karlo: Props lang yan, Kidd. Kuha mo pa nga akong gulaman.

But that was years ago. Blogging was still new here in the Philippines and the only ones who got to know about it first were the ones who had access to the internet.

Years have passed and things are much different now than before. Internet access has been made easier thanks to all those internet rental shops that began appearing on the streets like spam on your spam folder. It is because of this that Pinoys became more literate when it comes to the internet. This eventually led to the discovery of the average pinoy on the world of blogging.

Today, almost everyone can blog, from employees, college drop-outs, coconutters, squatters, and even those kids who steal money from cookie jars. Everyone is now given a chance to speak up and share their thoughts to others.

I am a witness of this change and I really think that this is the way things should be. If we live in a society that measures ones worth according to riches on the offline world. Here on the blogosphere, those riches are of no worth rather than just things that show your status in life. What’s more important here are the things that you think and share with all the other bloggers on the whole blogosphere.

So, is blogging still exclusive to high society? Not anymore.

But of course, there are still some of those coños left. :3

@Caroline I know it’s a bad move to easily categorize them as cono. Sorry to those who were offended. ^_^

I never really thought that blogging was exclusive for the rich kids. I used to think that it was more for tech-savvy people but now blogging has been made so much easier by all these blog hosting services. I never saw a blogger as a person happily sipping coffee with a laptop in front of him/her, only as a person who loves to write and share his/her thoughts with other people.

I’m not sure referring to anyone with a laptop as ‘coño’ is a good idea, though. :P

Mahilig ako sa sago’t gulaman at pisbol.

Pero hindi ako pwede mag-blog pag kumakain ng pisbil kasi walang wifi connection ang naglalako. Hehehe..

Hmm… imagine, a naglalako ng pisbol na may free wifi connection. Coolness!
