There are times in a blogger’s life that we tend to “space out†while in the process of writing a post. Perhaps, the more widely used term for this would be writer’s block.
This is something every blogger struggle with every once in a while. It seems that no matter what we do, no mater how hard we try, the words that we want to say still could not come out. You have the idea fixed on the back of your mind, but you still can’t put them into words.
There are many reasons that can be the cause of Writers block, more common ones would be the lack of creative juice, the effect of stress, and time constraints. But I am not going to talk about these common reasons that other bloggers have already talked about.
On this post, I am going to talk about one cause that people are less aware of: The effect of the restrictions on proper writing and how to overcome it.

Blocked Thoughts
There are certain writing rules or guidelines that a writer must follow in order for him to create a high quality and well formed article. As bloggers, we are subjecting ourselves to public criticism, which is why it is only normal for us to observe proper writing methods such as the grammar, spelling, proper punctuations, construction of words and the like.
In hopes of providing a quality post to our readers, there are times that we tend to concentrate more on the quality of our post rather than the message that we are trying to convey. And somewhere along the way, the words get caught into the restrictions and thus we have a writers block.
Thinking of these things first would obstruct the flow of your ideas. My advice is to let your thoughts flow first, only then do you restrict yourself with these writing guidelines.
Let your thoughts flow
You can do this by laying out your ideas first. It can be through the form of keypoints or keywords, sentences, or even whole paragraphs. Personally, I make use of a mix of all of these especially if I have a particular phrase that effectively explains what I am trying to say.
It can be anything that comes to mind. Continue to lay it down until you have exhausted all your ideas. Do this without any restraints, without minding any grammatical errors, spellings or idea inconsistencies.
One good thing about doing this method is that you now have all your ideas laid out. This could avoid any idea inconsistencies along the way because you have a clearer picture of what you are going to talk about.
Building it up piece by piece
Now that you have your ideas neatly laid out on the table, the next step to do is to arrange these ideas to flesh out the structure of your post. Take note of the flow of ideas and proper sentence/paragraph construction.
Continue with the rearrangement while slowly applying the writing guidelines. Go through your article one more time, this time be stricter in finding errors.
This is one surefire method that I use in overcoming writers block. By doing this method, you don’t just end up having an article that effectively conveys the message that you are trying to express, but you also have well formed and high quality article.
If problems still persist. Use a hammer.
Did you ever experience writer’s block while blogging? What methods did you use to overcome it? C’mon and share it.
