If the title of this post hasn’t caught your attention even at its slightest, then I guess there is no need for you to read this article.
Not all visitors have the luxury of time to read blog posts on other blogs. We must consider the fact that many of them only scan through the title of the posts to see whether there is something of interest that they can read. If they don’t see anything interesting, then it’s bye-bye to your blog.
We can visualize post titles as a label on doors that leads to an unknown room. The decision of a person entering the said room or not highly depends on what is written on the said label. With this in mind, we must make sure that our post titles are fully optimized in order for us to catch their attention and make them turn the doorknob.

Would this catch more attention?
There are many ways to optimize a post title. The following are the different types of post titles that you could use as a guide. You could create your title based on one or a mix of any of these.
Detailed and Informative Title
A detailed and informative title is a title that best describes the article as a whole. The objective of this type of title is to give the readers an idea of what the article will be discussing. This is very effective on news, how-to, and formal type of posts.
Examples:
Misconceptions of Some Pinoys on the World of Blogging
Let Your Thoughts Flow - Breaking the Writer’s block
Student Bloggers - Juggling School Work and Blogging
With the examples above, if you are interested on the topic regarding writer’s block, you would most likely click the link pointing to that said article.
Creative Titles
Creative titles can also be used to attract attention and interest. This type of title doesn’t necessarily need to describe the contents of the article. What it needs is a catchy and creative title. It can be used in any type of posts but is best when used on feature type posts.
Query Titles
This makes use of a question instead of a phrases. It could be any question. It could be a question directed towards your readers or questions that your readers are asking. This is very effective on how-to posts or articles that has an answer to a particular query.

Examples:
Does RSS Rob Your Blog of Visitors?
Has the Opening of Classes Affected Your Blog’s Visit Rate?
Big Claim and Controversial Titles
Big claims and controversies are a highly effective way to gain anyone’s attention. The effectiveness of this type of titles is the reason why they are mostly used in Spam or Pop-up Ads.

Examples:
Make $1,000,000 Just by Breathing!
Google: The next cure for cancer!
Pinoy Blogero Nude Pics Exposed!
You can create titles like this as long as you can substantiate your claims. Otherwise, it could have a really negative effect on your blog.
So, the next time you are going to think of a title for your posts, think about it thoroughly. Make sure that you make it interesting enough for it to be read by your readers.
