The Pinoy blogosphere is growing with each passing day. I have noticed this because of the overwhelming number of pinoy blogs that seem to appear instantly overnight. Now, there are over thousands of Pinoy blogs inhabiting the blogosphere. However, no matter how great this number may seem, it is still small compared to the growth of other countries which has embraced blogging in one full swoop.

Overall Pinoy Awareness on Blogging
“Can anybody tell me what this word means?”
“Sir! Can I go to the bathroom?”

If you would ask around on the offline world (that’s the real world, still remember that place?), you may find out that a lot of Pinoys still have no idea what blogging is in spite of its popularity on the internet.

Why is this so?

Blogging on the outside world is poorly advertised. You may only learn about this thing on a number of print media (Manila Bulletin’s Blog-o-rama), from friends, or from people who blogs. Only when you step into the world of blogging itself, you’ll find out that the world ‘blog’ is one of the most widely known terms on the internet.

Another reason is that not everyone has access to internet. Even if they learn about blogging, they could not check it out because they can’t. Even if they have access, most of them have the Open computer-Yahoo-Friendster-Close Computer cycle that they fail to explore the internet for new things.

There are also some who are afraid to blog because of some misconceptions they have about blogging. Some think that blogging are only for personal use while some even think that blogging is only limited to people who are good in writing. I have written something about this a while back which focuses on the misconceptions of some pinoys on the world of blogging.

The Pinoy blogosphere has a great potential to grow. This is because of fact that Pinoy’s are able and talented for this kind of thing. We should promote blogging to others so that our community would grow.

It’s a good thing to know that are some movements who seek to promote blogging to the outside world. As bloggers, we should be helping out in the development of our blogging community, not only because we are a part of it, but also because we could receive great benefits in doing so.

If we could not convince all Filipinos to join, let us at least target those who we think have the potential to blog. Someone who is similar to us.

So what are you waiting for? Go spread the good word! Blogging, that is.

Kaya ako nag-blog ay para sana unang hakbang para sa pinapangarap ko na libro. Pero ngayon, I saw it as a venue for my thoughts and opinions. No holds barred. Kaya nga lang sa sinapit ng boybastos.com eh hindi malayo na arestuhin nila tayo kung may sinabi tayo na hindi nila nagustuhan.
