A political blog is a part of a website where one can share his or her own views and opinion about the happening politics. It is an interactive blog and allows communicating with each other via widgets.

Political blogs and mainstream news

Political blogs differ with mainstream news, which look for objective behind the subject, while political blogs deal with personal opinions. Recently these blogs have gained increasing popularity because of their role in breaching and spinning the political news stories. Recent survey conducted by famous political scientist Professor Richard Davis showed that blogs are more accurate than mainstream news. At times they convey important information to general public, which provides a lead to mainstream news.  
More commonly, these blogs only react to the news published by the conventional media and due to the growing number of skilled people blogging the site; these blogs have become a source of in-detail study.

Influence on US politics

Although, many countries use political blogs, but their influence is seen more in US politics. In recent elections President Barack Obama maintained his own blog site, which helped him reaching common people and gaining political buzz among bloggers. This made the blogs a source for campaigning during elections. On the contrary, these blogs are also used to criticize the political leaders; as a result many politicians have deeply suffered owing to the growing disclosure provided by the political blogs.

These political blogs are considered to have both positive and negative impact on the society. Some blogs offer more accurate news, while most of them provide mere gossips. 
So it is up to the user to judge the news published in the blog before he or she reacts to it.
