Ever get frustrated every time your AdSense units display advertisements that are not related to your blog’s theme or content? You know, ads like beaches and resorts showing up on your sidebar when your blog is talking about cooking?
AdSense makes use of a very powerful technology which determines what relevant ads it should display on your ad units. This tool scans your blog, locates keywords, and picks up the most appropriate advertisement to display. However, like any artificial intelligence, it is not that perfect.
Based on AdSense’s calculations, it may have assumed that your blog is talking about beaches and resorts because you have used a lot of these keywords on your blog post. Even with Adsense’s new feature that let’s you filter unwanted ads, you still don’t have full control over what advertisements Google chooses for your blog.
But don’t fret, you can still getting those cents from AdSense. All you need to do is to how it what keywords to choose.
It’s actually quite simple, all you need to do is to insert the following codes into your blog content:
Put this code at the start of the content you want to be scanned.
<!– google_ad_section_start–>
Put this one at the end.
<!– google_ad_section_end–>
What you’re doing is that you are limiting the content on which AdSense is allowed to scan. The more focused and small the content is, the more accurate it can find the keywords you want it to find.
On this article for example, I placed the code at the start of the second paragraph and at the end of the third. One of the main keywords I am forcing AdSense to pick up is the keyword “AdSense”. So if you would look at my AdSense units below, there is a high chance that you would see an advertisement about “AdSense” that is displayed.
Still, even after using the code above, there is a small chance that AdSense would still be persistent and display almost-irrelevant ads on your blog. That’s ok. You were just “guiding” it to the keywords you want it to display, the decision is all up to AdSense.
Hope this tip helps! Happy blogging!

My problem is the other way around. My blog continuosly showing adsense (ex. My blog is a moneymaker) when my entry is regarding current events. Whatever entry I’ve posted, it never changed.

Great tip. Does it really provide strong results though? I’d like to see some sort of before/after data…
