Now that a new year is upon us, I bet a lot of you are a little curious of what the future might hold for the Pinoy blogosphere. Would 2008 be a good year for Pinoy bloggers? Would there be more offline blog events with free food that we can attend to?
I have consulted an expert in fortunetelling and Here are some of my predictions of what might happen in the coming months:
- More Pinoys would be creating their own blogs on the coming months. Half of the new signups would be in it for the sake of art and self-expression, the other half would only be after the money making.
- More blogs about blogging or “Make Money Online” would be put up by Pinoys blindly believeing that ithey are the best niches that can earn a lot of money. The said niches would be overcrowded (as if it is not overcrowded already) and those Pinoy bloggers would just be wasting their time clashing against giants like Problogger.net and JohnChow.com.
- Candidates for the 2010 Presidential Elections would start their own blogs. Campaign managers would advise presidential candidates to have their own blogs as a promotional tool for their campaigns. Candidates don’t really need to write on the blogs, they would just hire someone to do it for them.
More after the jump…
- More Pinoy bloggers will be sued. Bloggers who do not think before posting would find themselves being sued like BoyBastos. Know more about Freedom of expression on blogs here.
- More Controversies. Just like last year, the Pinoy blogosphere would have it’s fair share of controversies. Such situations are only normal for a growing and thriving community.
- More Young Bloggers. If ever blogging will be used as an alternative tool for learning, expect pinoy bloggers ages 15 below to have their own blogs. Expect most of them to be genuine, some to be not.
- More Blog Events. After the big success of blog events last year, organizers would be sure to follow them up with more this new year. I reckon the Trinoma Food Fest event won’t be the only party bloggers would be attending to, there’s Taste Asia 3, IBlog4, Blog Parteeh ‘08, and many other more! I’ll be posting the schedules here so be sure to subscribe to my feeds to get the latest updates!
- More fictional characters will be brought to life in the form of bloggers. One example of this would be Inday from the text messages, she was brought to life and has been given her own blog called Blog ni Inday. Expect characters like Jose Rizal or Enteng Kabisote to enter the blogging world soon. (Think about it. It’s a nice promotional tool for movies. Hey, I’m giving you a tip! Take a hint!)
- More Pinoy Bloggers would optimize their blogs for mobiles. With mobile surfing on the rise, more bloggers would be preparing their blogs for it to fit on those little mobile screens.
- Blogging would be be featured more on local TV shows and magazines. This means more blogger interviews on TV and print. More exposure for the world of blogging!
- Local companies would use blogs as an alternative option in advertising. Expect advertisements from Netopia, Digiprint, Globe, Smart, Sun, and the like to occupy the sidebars of Pinoy blogs. All thanks to those Pinoy advertising agencies such as MadCrowdMedia and BlogBank.
- Friendster would continue to reign as the most visited website in the Philippines. However if Pinoy bloggers could penetrate their borders and promote blogging to their community. I bet a number of them would immediately jump on the wago, turning the tables.
- Pinoy Bloggers would put more time on SEO for their blogs because of the success of previous SEO contests like the Marghil Macuha and Pinay Scandal SEO Challenge. Pinoys would see the value of SEO on blog management and would spend more time optimizing their blogs.
- Pinoy podcasting would simply dissapear and nobody would even notice it. That is, unless, someone stands up and promote it even further.
- Pinoy video blogging would continue to live on and prosper. Great videos would be produced but not many bloggers would be inclined to take on video blogging becuase of its time consuming process.
- PayPerPost Pinoy Community would continue to grow. Everyone would be trying out paid post advertising because it is the fastest way to earn money through blogs. Paid posts would continue to fill blogs and the Pinoy blogosphere would suffer from lack of fresh and interesting content.
And now, the more farfetched yet still possible to happen scenarios:
- One Pinoy blogger would instantly rise up the ranks and become one of the most influential bloggers in the world. His blog and chosen niche would be something unique and original and he will be considered an authority in his niche. He would earn the respect of everyone and the admiration of many Pinoy bloggers.
- A new TV show will be put up on a local TV channel, it’s either on GMA or ABS-CBN, depending on who will win on the AGB Nielsen case, and it will be a show dedicated to Pinoy bloggers!… On second thought, I think it will be more likely to land on QTV or some less prominent channels on local television.
- Every single pinoy will have their own blog. Just like when cellphones has invaded the life of Pinoys. Every member of the family will have at least one blog. Imagine, you could read the lives of different kinds of Pinoys! You could even read your mother’s thoughts! Aha!
How about you? Do you have also have a psychic ability that can see through the future? Why not share your predictions here!
