communitydiscussion Would You Spend Php6000 for a Make Money Online Seminar?

For years, Pinoy bloggers have always been treated like royalty. They are a pampered lot who are used to getting things for free (Free food tours, free seminars, free parties etc). This is why when an invite came about a Make Money Online Seminar that has an entrance fee of Php6000 pesos, the only sounds heard were gasps and wails of disbelief.

“As a blogger, I don’t think I’ll attend an event with an entrance fee” exclaimed a particular blogger on twitter.

The discussion continued to transpire on Twitter and even on mailing lists as people tried to express their thoughts on the issue.

But why wouldn’t bloggers spend Php6000 for a Make Money Online Seminar? Let us disect the different points raised by those concerned.

Why spend money when you could get it online?

“Honestly I think everything we need to know (in Making Money Online) is already on the internet” - Andrew Dela Serna (Alleba.com)

It is evident that some bloggers are not interested in spending money for a seminar that has a topic that is already abundant in the internet today. Everything from the basics to the more advanced had already been covered. There are also blogs that concentrate more on certain areas - like Affilate Marketing, Paid Advertising, CPC Advertising, etc - rather than the whole topic of Making Money Online.

With the great number of Make Money Online blogs available, it is possible that every nook and cranny of this niche has already been tackled. People are asking themselves, “What more could I get about making money online that could possibly be worth Php6000?”

Who’s the speaker?

“(The fee) is too much. Besides I don’t know the speaker” – Noemi Lardizabal-Dado (TouchedByAnAngel)

It also depends on who the speaker is. I’m not saying that the current speaker for the seminar is not competent for the job, it is just that, people would naturally want to listen to individuals who has more authority in such a topic.

Let’s take Abe Olandres of Yugatech for example, he’s considered as the no. 1 problogger in the Pinoy blogosphere today. Whenever he has a seminar, people would go flock the venue even if it has an entrance fee.

Probloggers are more likely to be followed because the effectiveness of their methods in Making Money Online are reflected on their blogs. The tips given by probloggers had already catapulted a lot of people to success without spending a single cent. Naturally, people would easily listen in what they will say.

The price is just too expensive for Bloggers

“If the target market are bloggers, the 6k may be too much. The price of the seminar should be dependent to the target market. Thus, the venue, foods, distribution of materials should correspondingly adjust depending on who the targeted audience will be. What we have is a marketing issue here. There is no high or low reg fee if the target market is right.” - Sonnie Santos (Sonnie’s Porch)

“6,000 is the going rates for seminars kasi - 2 days. Inclusive of food and place. This is yung seminar for corporate organizations.” – Juned Sonido (Baratillo.net)

I am also not saying that such a seminar would never get any attendees. There would still be people with money who will be interested in such things, like businessmen who would want to engage into making money online and such. Bloggers, on the other hand, would rather prefer getting their tips on the internet where it can be easily accessed for free without spending anything.

Not all Pinoy Bloggers are Rich

“Wala akong pera… Period” - Karlo.PinoyBlogero (PinoyBlogero.com)

Maybe if the seminar is for free then things would be different. The people behind the seminar could just look for sponsors to cover the bills. After all, this is not the first time that seminars are offered for free. There’s the annual IBlog event, the events held by Bloggers Kapihan and even the Blog and Soul Movement.

Like I said, we’ve grown used to getting things for free. Some are a little reluctant to spend their hard-earned money.

In the end, it all depends on the decision of the bloggers. If you feel that you want to go to the seminar, then by all means go. Other bloggers are just expressing their thoughts because they think spending 6000 pesos for a Make Money Online Seminar is not worth spending.
